CU Century by Mark 'Mark's Fabrications' Celica

Link to Project Log

Specs:

  • Intel Core i7-8700K
  • XFX XTR-750 80 Plus Gold
  • Gigabyte Z370N WIFI
  • Gigabyte AMD Radeon R9 Fury X
  • KLEVV BOLT DDR4 2 x 8GB
  • WD Black 256GB
  • EK-Supremacy EVO - Full Copper
  • Cooler Master Turbine Master 120mm
Closer resembling an artisan espresso machine than a PC, CU Century is a full-on homage to copper, brass, and wood. The use of polished brazed copper tubing with lacquered brass fittings really sets the theme off, adding very much an industrial, almost distillery look to the internals. There are elements of classic 'steampunk' set pieces like pressure gauges and clockwork mechanisms, but I think cornering this build as 'steampunk' does it a disservice.

As with the other winners, the devil is in the detail. Each component has been chosen or modded to fit the aesthetic. Take the custom rear I/O plates, for instance, or the polished copper radiator. Likewise, the look is refined, with no one material being overused in relation to another. No RGB to be found here, just a fitting red that highlights the colours of the internal components and builds on the industrial aesthetic.
